Meeting people via Stitch Activities

Last week we rolled out a new feature which we really think you’re going to like. It’s the ability to look at profiles of the people you see at Stitch activities, events and travel experiences, and it’s intended to make it much easier for you to find and connect with like-minded people on Stitch.

How does it work?

If you’re familiar with how the Profile Browsing features of Stitch work, you already know that Stitch will show you a number of profiles every day of fellow Stitch members who match your search preferences. Here is a picture of the Profile page, featuring our very own Michael Dean from the Stitch Customer Engagement team:

This is a great way to be introduced to Stitch members and has been part of how Stitch works from the very beginning. For some people, however, meeting someone new in a one-on-one environment can be a little intimidating, which is why Stitch Events & Activities have proved so popular since we introduced them a couple of months ago.

With Stitch Events & Activities, you get to suggest the things you would like to do with other Stitchers, and they let you know if they’re interested. Our members are suggesting an incredible variety of activities, from movies and indoor golf to wine tasting and whale watching, from volunteering and art classes to musicals and sporting events. All our members have plenty of things they’d like to do, they just don’t have someone to do them with – which is why they’re such great people to meet!

In addition to be able to say “I’m interested” in an activity or an event, Stitchers can comment on the activity in question to see what the rest of the community thinks of it, to decide on a date, or even just to discuss when and where to meet.

Last week we introduced a small but very powerful enhancement to Stitch which lets you click on any of the photos of the members who have commented on an activity, event or travel experience anywhere in Stitch, and you’ll get to see their profile immediately. In the image above, for example, just clicking on Sarah’s name or photo will take you to Sarah’s profile directly.

What’s so great about this?

Stitch is all about meeting people who like doing the same things you do. Which means you’re more likely to find like-minded members who are already interested in the events, activities and travel experiences that you are interested in yourself. And if you both decide you are interested in talking directly, then you’ve got a Stitch!

All this means you’ve got the best chance of meeting fellow Stitch members if you are doing things on Stitch yourself. The more activities you suggest, comment on, or say you are interested in, the more other members will be able to view your profile and connect with you!

So get started now … why not suggest your first activity today?

  1. It would be really cool to be able to scroll through the profiles of attendees AFTER an event so you can follow up with people that you met at the event. For example, the recent Stitch launch in SF.

    1. Hi Star,

I’m not quite sure what you mean … do you mean how do you meet people at a Stitch event? If you see an event you would like to attend, simply write a comment on it to join in the conversation, or click the “I’m interested” or “I’m attending” button. Once you attend the event or activity you’ll meet all the other Stitch members who attend. And of course you can suggest your own activities inside Stitch too!

      Regards,
      Andrew.

    1. Hi Evelyn, We’re definitely active in NYC. There is a comedy show happening with Stitchers next week, and I hope you can join!

  2. Would like to meet someone for friendship and companionship , someone that enjoy the things that I also enjoy. A love for travelling and a desire to live life to the fullest. Is there a group in Ottawa Canada or in Gatineau Quebec!
