4 Ways To Make A Great Profile On Stitch

4 Ways To Make A Great Profile On Stitch

Now you’ve probably heard from social media websites and online dating companies that your profile is everything – You want to lure in the right people and there is a certain way to go about it. Well, Stitch is unlike all those sites.

Stitch is all about expressing who you truly are. We know that adults over 50 have gathered plenty of wisdom and know exactly what they are searching for and hope to find. They don’t need to waste time playing games or embellishing a profile to find the right companion. That’s why we have designed a profile that allows you to express everything about… well, you!

On Stitch, honest profiles are successful profiles. No fuss, no games, no tactics. But creating a profile that perfectly expresses yourself is easier said than done. So we’ve come up with 4 tips to help you polish up your profile and make sure it expresses you in the absolute best way possible. Follow these steps, and you will be well on your way to finding the right, honest companionships you desire.

1. Be specific

In order to find the most success on Stitch, be as specific as possible. You want to include particular interests that reflect your day-to-day activities and passions.

For instance, instead of putting “spending time with family” as an interest, perhaps write something along the lines of “going to the movies with my grandchildren”. This says a lot more about you – not only does it indicate that you have grandchildren who mean a lot to you, but also that you enjoy going to the movies. Those who view your profile can now gather a greater understanding of who you are, and they may realize they have a lot more in common with you!

If your specific interest does not appear on our interests list, simply type it in the interest box (shown below) and press ‘Enter’. This will allow you to create your own!

Stitch Profile

In the “about yourself” and “who you’re looking for” sections, it is equally important to be specific. You want others to get a feel for who you are, what you do on a typical weekday, and how you spend your free time. Here are some  examples of how to get the most out of your profile:

“Tell us about yourself” section:

OK: I like to stay active and healthy.
Good: I like to play sports, stay outdoors, and swim.
Fantastic: I am an avid tennis player, but I would like to learn how to golf. I hike three mornings per week, about 3 miles. I decided to cut out carbs and try to avoid Italian restaurants and food…
OK: I love to watch baseball games and cook.
Good: I am a big Giants fan and love to cook new cuisines on the weekends.
Fantastic: I love the Giants and have been a big fan for 10 years. I have 2 season tickets and go to almost every game. On the weekends, I like to cook Chinese, Italian, and Greek foods and am open to trying new types of cuisines…

2. Be yourself

On Stitch it pays to be unique. But not in the typical online dating way. Here, you don’t have to feel like you need to “stand out from the crowd” by embellishing or adding things you think will be attractive to others.

With Stitch you can and should be yourself. If you enjoy playing badminton on the weekends or you are fascinated by archery, put it on your profile! Or maybe you just like reading a good book. Whatever the case, be true to who you are.

Now you may find yourself thinking, “But what if no one shares my special interests?”. The great thing about Stitch is many of our users are specifically searching for someone who shares their unique passions. So go ahead and include your crazy interests – you might be pleasantly surprised to find that someone is out there searching for someone just like you! Here are some examples of how to include your unique hobbies:

“Tell us about yourself” section:

OK: I like antiques.
Good: I like collecting antiques and going to antique stores.
Fantastic: It has been a longtime hobby of mine to collect and restore antiques. I visit antique stores typically twice a month and spend a lot of time restoring the antique furniture that I find…

“Tell us what you are looking for” section:

OK: I am looking for someone who likes golf.
Good: I am looking for someone who will play golf with me on the weekends.
Fantastic: I am looking for someone who loves playing golf  and would like to hit a round with me on the weekends at local country clubs. I am an active person and only walk the courses I play on, so I would like to find a golf partner who is willing to walk the courses with me…

Always remember that unlike other dating sites, on Stitch no one will judge your unique hobbies. We are all looking for others who can share our  passions and desires. So be yourself, and make your profile all about who you truly are. And leave the rest up to fate… and our awesome technology.

3. More, not less

On some dating sites, it is best to put less so that you attract a greater range of people. Well, that is NOT the case with Stitch. We match based on interests, which is a much more successful way to find companions.

Here is our greatest insider tip to a successful Stitch profile (drum roll, please): The more you put, the more options you have for companions.

It’s that simple. If you include more interests on your profile, you will match with more individuals and thus be able to browse through more potential companions. Of course, always stay true to who you are and only include interests you enjoy.

Now if you feel a tad overwhelmed by the open-ended “Tell us about yourself” and “Tell us who you’re looking for” sections of the Stitch profile, fear not, just write about you! Make sure to type as much as you can… We cannot stress this enough. This will help other Stitchers know exactly what you are looking for so they can know if they are the right fit for you. The more you type about yourself, the more time and energy you will save for Mr. or Mrs. Right.

OK: I really enjoy birdwatching and spending time with my dogs.
Good: I love to go on long hikes and usually bring a pair of binoculars to birdwatch. I also spend a lot of time walking and playing with my two dogs. On the weekends, I like to curl up with a good book and occasionally watch old movies.
Fantastic: I love to go on long hikes and birdwatch with my binoculars while also photographing the new bird species I find. I have always enjoyed art and sometimes paint pictures of interesting birds. I also spend a lot of time with my two golden retriever puppies and take them for walks everyday in the local park. On the weekends, I like to curl up with a good book and occasionally watch old movies. I love singing and dancing and am interested in learning how to play the piano.

While you’re at it, give the optional questions a go! They are there to help you write even more about yourself and give other Stitchers a better idea of who you are and what you enjoy.

Stitch Profile

4. Don’t forget your pictures!

Now let’s talk pictures. They say a picture’s worth a thousand words… And we agree. On Stitch, photographs are a crucial component to your profile. But not for the reasons you might think.

Let’s face it, on most online dating websites, pictures are sometimes the most important part of your profile. Well, not on Stitch. We are different from all other dating websites, because we match based on interests, locations, and hobbies – not looks. Because we offer a way to find romantic AND non-romantic companionships, Stitch profile pictures are more important for showing who you are, not just what you look like.

When adding photos to your Stitch profile, make sure the pictures are a great representation of you. Your main photo should highlight you and only you. For your additional photos, you can show off who you are and the activities you love! Maybe this means a picture of you biking on a trail or traveling in Spain. With just a few profile photos, you can easily express your interests and your personality.

Make sure to AVOID confusing profile pictures like these:

Instead, CHOOSE pictures like these:

Next, try to include multiple pictures. Photos of you performing your various hobbies or with those you love – all are fair game on Stitch. (Just make sure all your pictures highlight you!) With more pictures, your potential companions can get a feel for who you really are. It makes them already feel comfortable talking to you and feel as though they know you even better.

The Internet can be a complex place, and we all like to be reassured that there is a real person on the other side of the screen. Fortunately, Stitch uses secure technology to prevent scammers from creating profiles on our site; however, it never hurts to ensure your potential companions that you are, in fact, real. So the more pictures, the better.

Besides, when given the choice of two profiles – a person with a single picture and another with multiple photos – which would you choose to talk to?

Feeling like a Stitch expert yet? We’ll let you in on another tip: The best part about Stitch’s profile is you can edit it as much as you want, whenever you want!

We know people change and find new passions each day, so we want your profile to change with you. Add new interests, new hobbies, new pictures… Express who you are! If you pick up a fun hobby or suddenly get interested in a great new activity… just add it to your profile!

With Stitch’s profile, sky’s the limit, and your potential companions are limitless.

Now type on and let’s get stitched!
