How Stitch Helps People with a Full and Thriving Social Life

Joe joined Stitch in May 2023, after a recommendation from a friend. He already had a thriving social life due to his church community and involvement in peer support groups, but was curious about what Stitch could offer

A busy schedule and health limitations meant he didn’t go along to many events in the first year, but he kept up his account anyway as he found it a good safe way to meet people.

After deciding to renew his membership for a second year, Joe experienced a burst of new energy as his health improved. He was able to join more groups, chat to more people, and attend more in-person events.

“The more I got involved, the more I got out of it.”

Joe attended a range of events in Sydney, as his schedule allowed.

“I started attending a monthly meeting of aspiring French speakers, and now this is one of my most important meetings that I would cancel other opportunities to attend.”

As his confidence grew on the platform he decided to organize an event.

“I organized my first event, and even though only one other Stitch member went, I feel that it was a success as I would have been there anyway without them.”

His wave of new friendships, online and offline, has brought even more joy and fullness to his life.

“It seems to me the more you put into Stitch the more you get out of it.”

Joe is now hoping to organize more events on Stitch, and would like to travel to meet his virtual Stitch friends in person.

“The longer I'm part of it, the more I learn about it, and after two years I'm still learning things about Stitch that make me love it even more. Just today I learned about the charitable arm of Stitch.”

Joe’s positive Stitch experience has led him to make a regular donation to the Stitch Community charity, so that other people can experience the benefits of Stitch too.

“I certainly think it’s worth the money, and will be donating to the charitable arm so more financially disadvantaged people can enjoy full membership.”

We love Joe’s story, as it shows how your Stitch journey can change and grow with you as your circumstances change, and ultimately contribute to even the most thriving life.

Thanks for your contribution Joe!
